NEW YORK, September 24. /TASS/. NATO allies, including the United States, are prepared to provide security guarantees to Ukraine as part of a potential settlement, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said.

According to Rutte, the decision on whether Ukraine ultimately joins the alliance rests with Kiev. However, he said NATO allies, including the United States, are ready to provide the necessary security guarantees.

Speaking at an event in New York, Rutte said at an event broadcast on NATO’s social media channels that NATO had agreed on a package of guarantees in January in Paris under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Rutte added that, under any peace agreement, all parties involved in providing the guarantees would have a clear understanding of their respective responsibilities.
