NEW YORK, September 23. /TASS/. The US administration has extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the G20 Summit near in Miami in December, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Wednesday.

"We've invited President Putin to the G20. We think it's an opportunity for him to engage not just with the president but with other world leaders," Rubio stated following his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The headquarters of the global organization in New York City is hosting the General Debate of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) with the participation of heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers, on September 22-26 and September 28. The Russian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
