STOCKHOLM, September 23. /TASS/. Member of the Freedom Alliance, Finland’s national conservative political party, Armando Mema said that restoring NATO to its 1990s borders is the key condition for lasting peace in Ukraine.

"The west will re-arm Ukraine if any peace deal were made, just like they did since 2014. We must say that NATO must retract to 90’s border, that is the only direction that could lead to a sustainable Peace. The NATO enlargement was, is and continue to be the biggest obstacle to Peace," the politician said in a post on his X page.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that Western weapons supplies will not change the situation on the battlefield, but will only extend the hostilities, causing further casualties and leading to unpredictable consequences for regional and international security. Russia’s officials consider the transfer of long-range systems and permission to use them to target the country’s territory a direct involvement of NATO member states in the conflict.
