MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. The United States must accept the new legal status of the Strait of Hormuz for shipping to pass through it, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said in an interview with Vedomosti.

"If they want shipping through the Strait of Hormuz now, they must accept the new legal status of this strait, which will be determined precisely by the two countries that possess this strait - Iran and Oman," he said.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Iran would not open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping until the United States accepted the conditions conveyed by Tehran.
