ANKARA, September 19. /TASS/. The negotiations between the United States and Iran have hit a snag in recent months exacerbated by the Houthis attacks, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.

"There has been a deadlock in the negotiations between the United States and Iran over the past few months. And as a consequence of this situation, we see not only their attacks on each other, but also the issue of the Bab·el·Mandeb Strait from the Yemeni side. We see that the parties are participating in an operation to expand the crisis towards Saudi Arabia. The situation is becoming increasingly complex," he said on the NTV television channel.

Fidan noted that Turkey and other countries are putting forward initiatives and "doing everything possible to ensure that the negotiations between the US and Iran are concluded. But there is a great deal of distrust between the parties. They previously reached an understanding in Pakistan. But then problems arose with the implementation of these agreements. And now both sides have openly begun to conduct this process in a way that is beneficial to them."

He also said that "the parties to the conflict are being offered new terms" for a compromise. "I hope they will accept them. Otherwise, the current crisis, which has been tolerable to a certain extent for the countries it affects, has already begun to have such economic consequences for some states that they go far beyond what is acceptable. We see this in Europe, in the Asia·Pacific region, and in Africa," Fidan said.
