BISHKEK, September 1. /TASS/. Relations between Russia and Turkey are currently at the highest possible level, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.

"Turkish·Russian relations are currently at a much higher level than at any other point in history," Erdogan said at his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

"The significance of Russian tourists for Turkey is very great and multifaceted. Russian tourists form today one of the most important components of the tourist flow to Antalya," the Turkish president continued.

Erdogan added that, "in addition to this, the two countries have strong partnership relations in agriculture and energy," as well as in other spheres.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit kicked off on September 1 in Kyrgyzstan's capital of Bishkek with a Council of Heads of State meeting. After the SCO session, a traditional SCO+ meeting was held, bringing together the leaders of SCO observer countries, dialogue partners and guests invited by the chair.
