PARIS, August 24. /TASS/. Marine Le Pen, leader of the parliamentary faction of the French National Rally, remains the frontrunner as the 2027 French presidential election approaches, according to a recent poll conducted by Toluna Harris Interactive for the M6 television channel and RTL radio.

The survey reveals that 38% of respondents are prepared to support Le Pen. Close behind is Jean-Luc Melenchon, founder of the left-wing France Unbowed party, with 16% of voters indicating their intention to back him. He is notably ahead of centrist candidates and former prime ministers from President Emmanuel Macron’s camp: Edouard Philippe, leader of Horizons, at 14%, and Gabriel Attal, head of Renaissance, at 8%. The poll was carried out on August 18-19, involving 1,764 participants aged 18 and over.

The first round of the presidential election is scheduled for April 18, 2027. Should no candidate secure more than 50% of the vote, a runoff will be held on May 2 between the top two contenders. It is worth noting that Emmanuel Macron, having completed his second term, is ineligible to run again in 2027 due to constitutional restrictions.
