According to the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the United States’ new anti-Iranian course is doomed to failure, as were all of its previous attempts

TEHRAN, August 23. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called US President Donald Trump’s new sanctions an old movie seen many times before and pledged that Iran knows how to withstand them.

"The economic sanctions Trump is talking about are a recurring scenario and he same familiar rudeness of American politics. In essence, it’s a movie we’ve seen many times before, and we know how to deal with it," he said in an interview with the Jamaran agency.

According to the top Iranian diplomat, the United States’ new anti-Iranian course is doomed to failure, as were all of its previous attempts. He noted that Washington’s actions indicate that it is in a state of desperation, and the only way out of the current situation is to "engage in a respectful dialogue with the Iranian people."

Earlier, Trump announced the launch of "economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale" against Iran. The US leader also warned that countries whose financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government agencies support Tehran will face serious economic consequences from Washington.

Following this move, the Iranian foreign ministry slammed the United States’ economic policy toward Iran as "economic terrorism and a crime against humanity." "The US administration, those who developed sanctions plans and those who are implementing them must be appropriately punished," it said.
