RABAT, August 21. /TASS/. The economic war against Iran, announced by US President Donald Trump, is doomed to fail like all previous restrictions and sanctions against Tehran, and the threats themselves resemble an old movie with new actors, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated.

On his X page, the top Iranian diplomat recalled previous threats against Tehran by US administrations, including "the crippling sanctions in history" 14 years ago, "maximum pressure" on Iran eight years ago, as well as the recent demand for the "unconditional surrender" of Iranian authorities five months ago. Araghchi stated that all of these threats "failed."

The current "most crushing economic operation ever" against Iran, announced by Trump, is also "bound to fail," the foreign minister emphasized. "We have seen this movie before," Araghchi noted, adding that it features "same bull, different bullies."

Earlier, Trump announced the launch of "economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale" against Iran. The US leader also warned that countries whose financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government agencies support Tehran will face serious economic consequences from Washington.
