All US bases will be seized if Washington uses nuclear weapons against Iran — IRGC
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi did not clarify whether the Iranian military would occupy the US bases on its own or with the help of other forces
WASHINGTON, August 12. /TASS/. American military bases around the world will be seized if the US attempts to use nuclear weapons against Iran, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite unit of the Armed Forces), has said.
"[The use of nuclear weapons] can end up being a mistake for them. The morning after they use a bomb, all of America's military bases around the world will be occupied. Today, things are different than World War II. The people of the world have awakened. No one in the world will allow such a crime to be committed, because the next time it could be themselves," he said in an interview with the American television network PBS.
The general did not clarify whether the Iranian military would occupy the US bases on its own or with the help of other forces. Addressing the possibility of Iran developing nuclear weapons, an IRGC spokesman stated that his country "has no need for nuclear bombs," since "Islamic values and the divine values of the Islamic Revolution are taking over the world."
The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on July 8, the US resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
