CENTCOM reports disabling ship that attempted to breach blockade on Iran

According to the US military, the vessel has ignored repeated warnings while en route to an Iranian port via the Gulf of Oman

NEW YORK, August 11. /TASS/. Forces of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) have disabled a Panama-flagged Vela Nova cargo ship which they clam attempted to breach Washington’s maritime blockade on Iran, the US military said.

According to CENTCOM, the vessel has ignored repeated US warnings while en route to an Iranian port via the Gulf of Oman. After that, a US Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the Vela Nova’s engine room. As a result, the ship is "no longer transiting to Iran," CENTCOM said.

The US military also said that as of August 11, CENTCOM has redirected 55 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade, disabled 3 non-compliant vessels, and boarded 2.
