DOHA, August 11. /TASS/. The death toll from a missile strike by Yemen’s Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement on the commercial vessel Tihama in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has risen to six, with another 10 people injured, the Yemeni Coast Guard said.

"According to preliminary data, the victims include four crew members - three Pakistanis and one Indonesian - as well as two service members from the 2nd Naval Brigade," the agency said in a statement carried by the SABA news agency. The 10 injured include seven crew members, two coast guard personnel and one serviceman. Yemen’s Transport Ministry had earlier reported four deaths and four injuries.

The coast guard said that the losses among security personnel resulted from a second Houthi missile strike launched during the crew’s evacuation. About three hours after the attack, the rebels sent an explosive-laden unmanned boat toward the vessel, but Yemeni forces intercepted and destroyed it. A total of 11 sailors were rescued from the vessel.

On July 20, the Houthis announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia and subsequently attacked several Saudi oil tankers. Amid the escalation, the kingdom and several other countries announced the formation of a new naval coalition to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
