According to the US leader, the Russian president agreed to release Gilman on a humanitarian basis
WASHINGTON, August 11. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to release convicted US serviceman Robert Gilman for humanitarian reasons without swapping him for convicted Russians held on the US territory, US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"After my discussions with President Vladimir Putin, Russia has agreed to release him, very much on a Humanitarian Basis. We appreciate this decision, and the fact that Russia asked for no one in return - No exchange took place," Trump said.
The US leader said he had just talked to Gilman over the phone, and he asked for a cheeseburger.
"I just spoke to him, and he had one request - A GREAT cheeseburger when he lands. I will take care of that!" Trump added.
