TEHRAN, August 10. /TASS/. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued an executive order to appoint Hossein Taeb as the commander of the country’s paramilitary Basij forces.

Taeb already served in this post between 2007 and 2009. From 2009 to 2022 he headed the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

On March 17, it was reported that former Basij Commander Maj. Gen. Gholamreza Soleimani was killed during US and Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic.
