TEL AVIV, August 10. /TASS/. Israel’s neighbors are hatching plans to normalize relations with it just for appearances only to later breach their agreements and launch a new confrontation with the Jewish state, Israel’s public broadcaster Kan claims.

According a foreign source cited by Kan, representatives of an unnamed nation in the Middle East recommended another regional country "show tactical flexibility" and make an agreement with Israel to "lull it into a false sense of security" while simultaneously "preparing for a broader confrontation."

According to i24News television channel, Israel’s military censorship delayed the publication of this information. And now that it is finally released, it is still prohibited to mention the countries, even as this recommendation apparently originated from an Arab country, i24News claims.

Following its establishment in 1948, Israel immediately found itself at war with all of its neighboring Arab countries, which refused to recognize the Jewish state. Currently, Israel maintains diplomatic relations with Egypt (since 1979), Jordan (since 1994), Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. Relations with the latter three were established under the Abraham Accords, brokered by the United States in 2020. These agreements also provide for normalizing relations with Khartoum, but the process was never completed in light of the civil war that broke out in Sudan and the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s authorities have repeatedly declared their intention to "expand the circle of peace" in the region through normalizing relations with its neighbors, primarily Saudi Arabia, although the two countries have no shared border. Israel also said that it wants to normalize relations with neighboring Syria and Lebanon, but currently Israel maintains its military presence in border areas in both countries.
