LONDON, August 10. /TASS/. The United States plans to lift the blockade on Iranian ports immediately after an agreement is reached on the resumption of unimpeded shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, citing sources in the White House.

"Once the deal is announced to restore commercial shipping without impediments, the United States will lift the blockade of Iranian ports," one of the agency's sources noted.

At the same time, the sources emphasized that further US actions will be tied to Iran's fulfillment of its obligations to ensure shipping in the strait.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that the United States is ready to end the conflict with Iran without reaching an agreement on the Islamic republic's nuclear program.

On August 2, US President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to cancel a planned powerful strike on Iran in order to reach a deal with Tehran. According to him, Iran and Middle Eastern countries asked Washington to refrain from the attack, as the parties had agreed on the contours of a future agreement.

On August 5, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that Tehran and Muscat had agreed on the geographic coordinates for a shipping transit route through the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump said earlier that Washington remained in consultations with Tehran and expected to reach an agreement soon.
