WASHINGTON, August 9. /TASS/. The economic situation in Iran is degrading and a deal with it will finally be reached, US President Donald Trump said.

"We are low keying it," he told Axios, speaking about further steps against Iran.

Meanwhile, according to Axios, "U.S. officials said Trump was leaning toward resuming major combat operations against Iran a week ago but was convinced to de-escalate for now."

"We are only semi-negotiating with them. We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money," the portal quoted Trump as saying. Iran, in Trump’s words, "is in very bad shape" economically due the United States’ naval blockade.

"It will work out. It always works out. It's like a chess game," Trump said, commenting on the prospects for a deal with Iran.
