BERLIN, August 9. /TASS/. Europe is on the brink of a large-scale war, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has warned.

"I think we are standing at the beginning of a larger war," he said in an interview with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Dopfner. According to the Serbian leader, he hoped that in recent time someone would make efforts to reach peace in Ukraine. "But this has not happened and will not happen soon, which means that we on the verge of a much larger war," he stated.

Apart from that, he said that he doesn’t think that the conflict in Ukraine could be ended this year. "I see no end to the war this year, I see no end to the war until next spring," he said, adding that he sees "no chance for compromise solutions" in the current environment.
