Chair of US Joint Chiefs of Staff in search for ‘off-ramp’ from Iran war — TV

NEW YORK, August 8. /TASS/. Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine believes that Washington needs to find a way to withdraw from the conflict with Iran because further escalation will only make things worse, CNN reported, citing sources.
"Caine is looking for an off ramp," one of the sources told CNN.
According to the report, over the past few weeks, the US general privately made clear to other top president's advisers that airstrikes alone will not be enough to achieve the goals set by US President Donald Trump, and military options to escalate the conflict would backfire.
Caine discussed prospects of finding an off-ramp from the war with other key US officials, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, sources said. He wants to make sure they are on the same page ahead of meetings with the president, CNN wrote.
According to the broadcaster, "it is highly significant that Trump’s most senior general is privately arguing there is no easy military solution to end a war the president chose to enter."
