BEIJING, August 7. /TASS/. The People's Liberation Army’s command will ensure the modernization of its troops in line with advanced international standards, Defense Ministry spokesman Chen Xi has said.

"President Xi Jinping's important statements increasingly inspire and motivate all officers and soldiers, with a combat-innovative spirit, to achieve decisive success in the fundamental modernization of the national defense and the Armed Forces, and to accelerate the transformation of the PLA into a world-class army," he emphasized on the Ministry of Defense's WeChat page, commenting on the prospects for enhancing the combat capability of Chinese troops.

As Chen Xi clarified, the modernization of the Armed Forces will provide Beijing with "a strategic foundation for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation." In the coming phase, the PLA will be guided by the Chinese leader's thoughts on socialism in a new era, fulfilling the task of strengthening China's defense potential, and "upholding the Party's absolute leadership over the military."

Chen noted that China will systematically introduce smart technologies into the PLA and continuously improve the level of military training. He added that modernization will involve the resources of both the military and the civilian sector.
