Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stressed that China opposed the overly broad interpretation of national security and pressure on Chinese companies

BEIJING, July 29. /TASS/. US restrictions on imports of foreign-made mobile robots will harm American companies and consumers, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said at a briefing.

"Protectionism will not enhance the United States' competitiveness. It will only undermine the interests of American businesses and consumers," she said. Mao Ning stressed that China opposes the overly broad interpretation of national security and pressure on Chinese companies. Beijing will continue to take the necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses.

New models will not be eligible for approval for import and sale in the United States without special authorization, while the restrictions do not apply to devices already cleared for the US market.
