Polish PM calls on delegation to NATO summit not to pledge funding to Ukraine
Poland is facing great commitments along the entire eastern border of the European Union, Donald Tusk said
MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called on the country’s delegation to the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara not to pledge financial assistance to Ukraine.
"I urge the delegation to exercise restraint regarding statements on Poland’s further financial support to Ukraine," he said at a press conference broadcast on his office’s social media accounts.
"It’s not because I believe Ukraine does not need financial support. I believe that Poland is facing great commitments along the entire eastern border of the European Union, and this should be taken into account," Tusk added.
According to the AFP news agency, NATO leaders are expected to pledge 70 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine for the 2020-2027 period. The total is set to include 60 billion euros already pledged by the EU for 2026-2027 as part of a 90-billion-euro funding plan for Kiev.
