The Belarusian president also stressed that "Russia and Belarus share a common homeland"

MINSK, June 25 /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he told Vladimir Zelensky's representatives in a recent conversation that the peoples of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine would ultimately come together as one.

"I am convinced, and I recently told Zelensky’s representatives this, that our peoples will be together. Sooner or later, we will be together again. How could it be otherwise?" the Belarusian leader said during a meeting with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, according to a TASS correspondent.

"Time will pass, cooler heads will prevail, and we will restore our relations. In this regard, you can count on Belarus," he added.

Lukashenko also stressed that "Russia and Belarus share a common homeland." "It is not our fault that two states emerged here. But these are very friendly, brotherly nations, and I believe there is no force capable of destroying this unity," he said.

Matviyenko and Lukashenko agreed that there are certain actors who would like to undermine that unity. However, the Belarusian leader assured that that won’t happen. "Your relatives are buried in Ukraine. Today, you work for the benefit not only of Russia but also of Belarus, and not against Ukraine either. How can that be torn apart? It is impossible. Our people live there. We have always lived and been friends together, and we will remain friends," Lukashenko said, addressing Matviyenko.
