Rubio’s statements threaten to derail Iran deal — source

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statements during his tour of the Persian Gulf countries threaten to derail the deal to settle the conflict over Iran, a high-ranking Iranian source told TASS.
"The aggressive stance taken by the US during Marco Rubio’s tour of the Persian Gulf countries risks jeopardizing the hard-won deal to end the war," the official emphasized.
According to the source, the Iranians are increasingly suspicious that a sort of division of labor is taking place within the US administration with the aim of pressuring Iran to participate in "parallel negotiations" to limit "its axis of resistance." "Iran has made it clear that it will not negotiate on its regional allies," he added.
The official noted that Europe is attempting to pressure Tehran through its statements on Iran’s missile program. "Tehran views the Europeans' latest outcry over Iranian ballistic missiles as a ploy aimed at pressuring them as part of a US-EU scheme to 'neutralize' Iran," the source noted.
He added that Iran had made it very clear that it would not tolerate this collusion and would not compromise on either of the two points. "Iran will not allow its regional allies to fall, nor will it abandon its missile program," the Iranian source emphasized.
