BEIRUT, May 25. /TASS/. The Israeli Air Force has carried out several attacks on the Rashidieh Palestinian refugee camp, located on the outskirts of the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, the NNA news agency reported.

According to its information, the Israeli military had previously ordered residents of the camp and neighboring areas of Tyre to immediately evacuate their homes and leave the city. Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Avichay Adraee announced on his X page the launch of an operation to destroy military infrastructure established in Tyre by the pro-Iranian Shia group Hezbollah.

The areas of Burj el-Shamali, Al-Maashouq, and Al Madina as Sinaiya were also shelled, resulting in casualties; the exact number is being determined. Israeli aircraft remain in the skies over Tyre, and further attacks on its neighborhoods are expected.

On March 11, during an airstrike on the Al-Bass refugee camp in Tyre, nearby archaeological sites were damaged. Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salame then called on the international community to protect the antiquities from destruction. Tyre’s Roman hippodrome, aqueduct, triumphal arch, and necropolis are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
