US expects Iran to approve peace agreement within several days — media
The official said there are still several details to close, Axios and Israel’s Channel 12 correspondent Barak Ravid said
WASHINGTON, May 24. /TASS/. The Washington administration expects Tehran to approve a peace deal within several days, Axios and Israel’s Channel 12 correspondent Barak Ravid said.
"The agreement with Iran is not expected to be signed today," he wrote on X, citing a US administration official. "The official said there are still several details to close. There is still back and forth over certain parts of the deal," he wrote.
"Some words that are important to us and some words that are important to them," he cited the official.
According to Ravid, the US side expects that "it will take several days for this to go through all the approvals" by the Iranian authorities. "Our understanding is that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei approved the broad template of the agreement, but whether this will turn into a final agreement is still an open question," the US official was quoted as saying.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that a draft of the would-be agreement with Iran had been generally agreed. He said that he had held a phone call with the leaders of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey to discuss a draft memorandum of understanding as part of a peace deal with Iran.
