WASHINGTON, May 24. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump and other protected officials were not harmed in the shooting incident outside the White House, the US Secret Service said in a statement.

"No injuries were sustained by officers. The President was in the White House during the incident, however no protectees or operations were impacted," the document says.

The attacker approached the area of 17th street and Pennsylvania Avenue (the spot is about 15 meters away from the White House), pulled a weapon from his bag and began shooting, the statement says. The Secret Service returned fire, striking the suspect. He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead.

As a result, one bystander was wounded. No details about his condition were provided in the document.
