Iran wants to strike deal, but its proposals are irrelevant — Trump

The US president previously urged Iran to act quickly on the potential deal, noting that time is of the essence

NEW YORK, May 18. /TASS/. Iran desperately wants to strike a deal with Washington, but Tehran’s proposals are not relevant, US President Donald Trump stated.

"I can tell you one thing – they’re dying to sign [a deal]. But they make a deal, and then they send you a paper that has no relationship to the deal you made. I say, 'Are you people crazy?'" the US leader said in an interview with the Fortune magazine.

The day before, Trump urged Iran to act quickly on the potential deal, noting that time is of the essence.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched a large-scale operation against Iran. In response to the strikes,Tehran decided to block the Strait of Hormuz. On April 7, the US president announced a two-week mutual ceasefire with Iran. Ten days later, shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz resumed. On April 21, the White House unilaterally extended the ceasefire while simultaneously imposing a blockade on Iranian ports. Iran stated that it does not intend to recognize such measures and will act in accordance with its own interests.
