TEHRAN, May 18. /TASS/. Iranian authorities are conducting consultations with Oman and other interested parties to develop a framework to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said.
"The Strait of Hormuz lies within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, so both coastal countries are obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure safe passage for all nations. We are in constant contact with Oman and other stakeholders to develop a mechanism to achieve this goal, and discussions are ongoing," he said during a press conference.
On May 15, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is prepared to guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for all commercial vessels once the war with the United States ends.
