US Congress unlikely to approve more military aid for Kiev — lawmaker
Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Brian Mast also emphasized that Washington’s European allies should increase their support for Kiev
WASHINGTON, May 17. /TASS/. The US Congress is unlikely to approve another major supplemental spending package for Ukraine, Brian Mast, Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said.
"I do not believe that you will see a US, call it a security supplement to Ukraine, for $6 billion, $60 billion, or any other amount," he told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (designated as a foreign agent media outlet and listed as an undesirable organization in Russia).
"We're happy to be negotiators of peace," Mast noted, referring to Washington's involvement in conclusions on resolving the Ukraine conflict.
According to him, Washington’s European allies should increase their support for Kiev. "Europe needs to protect their own backyard," he stressed.
According to the media outlet, the US lawmaker said Washington would continue providing intelligence support to Ukraine and allow weapons sales and transfers.
