CAIRO, May 16. /TASS/. The Palestinian Hamas movement has confirmed the death of leader of its military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, it said on Telegram.

"Izz al-Din al-Haddad died as a result of an Israeli strike on the Gaza Strip," the statement said. The movement also claims that his wife and daughter were killed along with al-Haddad.

On May 15, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the head of the military wing of Hamas was liquidated. According to him, the strike was carried out on the administrative center of the enclave, the city of Gaza.
