BEIJING, May 15. /TASS/. The meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump will serve as a powerful impetus for advancing Beijing-Washinton relations at various levels, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated.

"This meeting will serve as a powerful impetus for strengthening cooperation between the legislative bodies, local governments, business circles, the scientific community, the media, and other sectors in both countries," the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website quoted the top diplomat as saying in a comment on the results of Trump’s visit to Beijing.

According to Wang Yi, implementing the agreements reached by the two heads of state "will require joint efforts by agencies on both sides." He noted that Xi Jinping and Trump agreed to provide mutual support for the successful holding of the informal APEC leaders’ meeting, which will take place in November, as well as the G20 summit.

"China and the US must take action at all levels to implement the consensus reached by the two countries' leaders and achieve more tangible results," the Chinese foreign minister added. He emphasized that high-level diplomacy is the "guiding star" in relations between the two countries.
