Discussions on denuclearization with Russia and China, Iran operation: Trump’s statements
The US president noted that the US will resume and finish the operation in Iran, which is currently 70-75% complete
MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump told reporters that he is constantly discussing the issue of nuclear disarmament with Russia and China.
He also noted that the US will resume and finish the operation in Iran, which is currently 70-75% complete.
TASS has compiled the US leader’s key statements.
Denuclearization
Trump is constantly discussing the issue of nuclear disarmament with Russia and China: "The denuclearization. I talk about it all the time with Russia and with China."
Situation around Iran
The US is investigating the strike on a girls’ school in the Minab district in southern Iran: "I think we have a couple of things under investigation."
The US will return and finish the operation in Iran, which is currently 70-75% complete: "We are sort of finished militarily, pretty much. Probably 75%. We didn't finish every one of the things. We'll go back and finish them off."
The US could destroy Iran’s critical infrastructure "in two days."
Washington has crushed Iran’s military capabilities, thereby achieving a complete victory: "We had a total military victory. We knocked out their entire Navy. We knocked out their entire Air Force. We knocked out, all of their anti-aircraft weaponry. We knocked out all of their radar. We knocked out all of their leaders, number one. And then we knocked out all of their leaders in the second division, and we knocked out numerous of their leaders in the third division. And they're very confused."
The US announced a ceasefire with Iran at the request of other countries, specifically as a favor to Pakistan, which acted as a mediator: "We really did the ceasefire at the request of other nations. I wouldn't have really been in favor of it. But we did it as a favor to Pakistan, who are terrific people."
The very first sentence in Iran’s response to the US initiatives was unacceptable: "I looked at it, and if I don't like the first sentence, I just throw it [the document] away."
Iranian uranium
A 20-year pause in Iran’s uranium enrichment would be sufficient, provided there are adequate guarantees from Tehran: "Twenty years is enough."
Iran cannot independently extract its stockpiles of enriched uranium from under the rubble; only the US and China possess the necessary technology: "They told me that they can't remove it because they don't have the technology to remove it. They told me directly. They said the only one that can remove it is China or the US."
Relations with North Korean leader
"I have a very good relationship with [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un. <...> He's been respectful of our country. I want him to be respectful."
On UK prime minister’s policies
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has found himself "in trouble" because of his policies on energy and immigration: "He’s in trouble for two reasons, energy and immigration. He’s very bad on energy. He should open up the North Sea. He’s got a gold mine and should open up oil in the North Sea, and he doesn’t."
The UK is overpaying for Norwegian oil: "You know they buy their oil, a lot of it from Norway. Norway gets it from the North Sea, not as good an area as Scotland and the UK, so they’re paying Norway a fortune for oil that they take out of the North Sea."
