CSTO improving, adapting its mechanisms to new realities — secretary general
According to Taalatbek Masadykov, the CSTO has come a long way from a political agreement to a multifaceted organization with powerful military-political potential
MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is continuously improving and adapting its mechanisms to new realities, CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov stressed in an address on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty.
"The decision made in Tashkent more than 30 years ago was fateful for the Eurasian space. The foundation laid then allowed us to build an effective collective security system. The organization is continuously improving, adapting its mechanisms to new realities, but fidelity to the spirit of the 1992 Treaty and the principles of equality remains the unwavering guarantee of our peaceful future," he noted.
"On this day, we pay tribute to the political wisdom of the leaders who laid the foundations of the CSTO, who, through the turbulence of the times, were able to discern the unwavering value of alliance," Masadykov stressed. "The solidarity forged over time, based on shared history and strategic partnership, continues to serve as a reliable shield against any attempts at destabilization."
According to the secretary general, the CSTO has come a long way from a political agreement to a multifaceted organization with powerful military-political potential. "Coordinating foreign policy steps and jointly countering terrorism, drug trafficking, and cyber threats have become a daily practice of our close cooperation. I am confident that in the future, we will continue to work together to ensure security throughout the CSTO," Masadykov concluded.
