Trump says very first sentence in Iran’s response was unacceptable
It is about Iran’s response to American initiatives for a peaceful settlement
WASHINGTON, May 15. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump stated he had seen Iran’s response to American initiatives for a peaceful settlement, but he considered the very first sentence in the Iranian document unacceptable.
"I looked at it, and if I don't like the first sentence, I just throw it [the document] away," he told reporters aboard the presidential plane en route from Beijing to Alaska when asked if he had reviewed Iran’s response.
When asked to clarify what the first sentence in the Iranian document was, the US leader emphasized that it contained an "unacceptable sentence."
On May 10, Iran conveyed to Pakistan its response to US proposals for resolving the conflict in the Persian Gulf region. According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, Tehran has refused to dismantle its nuclear facilities, a demand insisted upon by Washington. The newspaper noted that the Iranian side expressed a willingness to agree to suspend uranium enrichment, but not for the 20 years demanded by the US.
