Japan FM denies reports about plans to send delegation to Russia

TOKYO, April 3. /TASS/. Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi denied media reports about the government’s plans to send an economic delegation to Russia in May.

"This is not true," he said, responding to a question from a TASS correspondent.

On Thursday, Japan’s Kyodo news agency, citing sources, reported that the Japanese government was planning to send a delegation to Russia in May and was inviting top executives of major companies, including Mitsubishi, Mitsui and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, to take part. The dispatch of the delegation was reportedly being considered in view of the possibility that Japanese businesses were considering resuming their operations in Russia after the end of the conflict in Ukraine. According to the report, the issue of purchasing Russian oil could be raised during the visit if it takes place.
