Iran urges UNESCO to hold meeting on US, Israeli attacks on cultural sites

As was previously reported by the Iranian authorities, the attacks of US and Israel resulted in 131 cultural and historical heritage sites being damaged

TEHRAN, April 2. /TASS/. Iran suggested that UNESCO should hold an emergency meeting on US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s cultural and historical heritage sites, Secretary General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO Hassan Fartousi said.

"Iran suggested that UNESCO hold an emergency meeting to present more detailed reports on severe damage of cultural heritage as a result of airstrikes of US and Israel," the Iranian State Television and Radio Company quoted him as saying.

As was previously reported by the Iranian authorities, the attacks of US and Israel resulted in 131 cultural and historical heritage sites being damaged. In particular, due to the strikes 50 Iranian museums sustained damage, including a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Golestan Palace in Tehran.
