ASHGABAT, April 1. /TASS/. Security in the Strait of Hormuz is directly tied to whether Iran maintains sovereignty and domestic stability, Tehran’s Ambassador to Ashgabat Ali Mojtaba Rouzbahani writes in an article obtained by TASS.

"It’s clear that this unprovoked aggression (by the US and Israel - TASS) has put global economic security and the world economy in serious danger. That said, <...> peace and security in the Strait of Hormuz, a global energy thoroughfare, depend directly on whether Iran maintains sovereignty and domestic stability. Warnings indicate that ongoing reckless military ventures in the region are not only undermining the safety of navigation but are also placing direct responsibility for any instability in this strategic waterway on the parties that call for war and carry on with aggression," the envoy points out.

Rouzbahani also notes that a deep rift has emerged on the international level between "the ruling circles of interventionist countries and the global public opinion." According to him, many nations have raised their voice against a unilateral approach and "legal anarchy." "In this situation, our neighbors, especially those in Central Asia and the Caucasus, have played an outstanding role. The humanitarian cargoes that Turkmenistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have provided to us in a show of solidarity highlight deep regional ties," the diplomat emphasizes.

Rouzbahani points to pragmatic Turkmenistan, which shares a 1,200-kilometer-long border with Iran. He observes that the Turkmen government, guided by the principle of "permanent positive neutrality," has from the very start been calling for resolving differences peacefully through dialogue and has also taken important steps to facilitate the movement of people and the reunification of families.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key Iranian leaders were killed in the joint US-Israeli attack.
