MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The US administration's statements about talks cannot be trusted, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said in an interview with TASS.

"It’s typical of the Trump administration to betray diplomacy and negotiations," he noted, when asked if Tehran and Washington were expected to hold talks in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

The Washington administration claimed earlier that the US and Iran were in indirect talks, which were going constructively. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that Tehran had received a US invitation to talks through Pakistan and other mediators but there had been no direct communication.

Earlier, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that Iran-US talks could take place in Islamabad in the coming days.
