US president says his Iranian counterpart requested ceasefire
Donald Trump said that Washington "will consider when the Hormuz Strait is open"
WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. US leader Donald Trump asserts that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has requested a ceasefire from the US administration.
"Iran’s new regime president, much less radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a ceasefire," the US president wrote on Truth Social.
"We will consider when the Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion," he added.
The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit.
