BEIRUT, April 1. /TASS/. Israel has eliminated Hezbollah military leader Yusuf Ismail Hashem, who commanded operations in southern Lebanon, during bombing of the Jnah area in Beirut, Al Jadeed TV channel quoted a Hezbollah official as saying.
"Hezbollah mourns the death of the commander of the southern front Yusuf Ismail Hashem as a result of an enemy strike on Beirut," he said.
Earlier, Israel Defense Forces representative Avichay Adraee said on X that ships had launched a missile attack on Jnah.
"Hezbollah's southern front commander Yusuf Ismail Hashem directed the launching of rockets and drones into Israeli territory and led efforts to rebuild military infrastructure," Adraee said. According to him, Hashem’s elimination is a blow to Hezbollah's ability to counter Israel.
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry the Israeli rocket attack on Jnah killed seven and 27 injured people.
