Ukraine receives $1.3 bln in financial support from Japan
This is the second financial tranche from Japan under the ERA program
MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The government of Japan has transferred $1.3 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine under the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) program, which provides for repayment using proceeds from reinvestment of frozen Russian assets until 2042, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko said in a Telegram post.
This is the second financial tranche from Japan under the ERA program. In total, since February 2022, Japan has provided Ukraine with $10.7 billion in financial assistance.
In the coming months, Ukraine may face financial hurdles due to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocking EU funding for Kiev worth €90 billion. The allocation of €90 billion (including €60 billion for weapons and €30 billion for budget needs) for 2026-2027 was agreed at an EU summit in December 2025. The plan was drafted as an alternative to a failed proposal to expropriate nearly €200 billion in Russian assets and use them to finance the conflict in Ukraine.
