CAIRO, March 25. /TASS/. The Iranian Armed Forces assert that an F-18 fighter jet allegedly belonging to the US Air Force was shot down over the Islamic Republic using an unnamed new man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).

According to Iran’s state TV, the aircraft was downed over the city of Chabahar in the southeast of the country and, according to the military, crashed into the Indian Ocean.

The United States has not yet commented on this information.
