Von der Leyen rules out purchases of Russian gas even in event of power outages in EU

The EU will continue the transition to green, European-produced energy, the European Commission president says

BRUSSELS, March 20. /TASS/. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has ruled out allowing EU countries to purchase Russian gas even if Europe faces an energy resource shortage that leads to power outages.

When asked if the European Commission would rule out purchasing Russian gas, even if Europe experienced power outages due to a shortage of energy resources, she said that the EU would continue to transition to green, European-produced energy.

Earlier, European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen stated that EU countries should no longer purchase "a single molecule" of Russian energy resources regardless of the circumstances.
