WASHINGTON, March 13. /TASS/. The US-Israeli operation against Iran will last for at least another 2-3 weeks, the Axios news website reported, citing Israeli officials.

The officials believe that US President Donald Trump is not planning to end the war in the next two to three weeks. However, they are "accounting for the possibility he makes an abrupt decision if he concludes his objectives have been met."

A source who spoke to Trump on Tuesday evening "described the president as ‘enthusiastic’ about continuing the war for at least another 3-4 weeks before making a decision." The US will focus on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in order to weaken government agencies and spark an internal uprising.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. The White House justified the attack by citing alleged missile and nuclear threats from Iran. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key Iranian leaders were killed in the joint US-Israeli attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit.
