BERLIN, February 26. /TASS/. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that during his visit to China he discussed the conflict in Ukraine in detail with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"I hope that during the talks I managed to convey some understanding that the leadership of this country should also contribute to ending the war in Ukraine. I discussed this matter in detail with President Xi Jinping yesterday," Merz told reporters during his visit to China. The press briefing was broadcast by NTV channel.

Merz also announced plans to hold German-Chinese intergovernmental consultations either at the beginning of 2027 or possibly later this year. "China will be the host country," the chancellor specified.
