North Korean leader announces development of new secret weapons, anti-satellite technology
Kim Jong Un specified that work will begin on intercontinental ballistic missile systems for ground and submarine launch, AI-powered unmanned attack systems
PYONGYANG, February 26. /TASS/. North Korea will work on the development and deployment of new secret weapons over the next five years, the republic’s leader, Kim Jong Un, said.
"The Party's Central Military Commission has set the key objectives for giving our army new secret and special strategic weapons, carefully reviewed the new defense plans made in different areas, and responsibly approved the long-term programs," Kim Jong Un said during the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
He specified that work will begin on intercontinental ballistic missile systems for ground and submarine launch, AI-powered unmanned attack systems, special weapons for striking enemy satellites in the event of war, electronic warfare systems, and advanced reconnaissance satellites.
It is planned to deploy additional strategic weapons annually to deter enemies. These systems, specifically 600-mm and 240-mm multiple rocket launchers and operational-tactical missile systems, will increase the density and duration of concentrated strikes.
"In five years, with the new national defense development plan fulfilled, our national defense capability will increase tremendously to a level our adversaries cannot reach," Kim Jong Un emphasized.
He also noted that the military industry and defense research sectors will continue serial production of cutting-edge weapons for technological development and armed forces modernization, in line with international defense science trends.
