Cuba strongly condemns US ‘oil blockade’ measures — foreign minister
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla emphasized that these measures "violate all principles of free trade"
HAVANA, January 30. /TASS/. Cuba has strongly condemned the recent measures taken by US President Donald Trump targeting the island, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said.
"We strongly condemn the latest US escalation against Cuba," he wrote on X. "They are now proposing a total blockade of oil supplies to our country."
"The US is also resorting to blackmail and coercion, trying to force other countries to join its widely condemned Cuba blockade policy, threatening those who refuse with arbitrary and unfair tariffs," the top diplomat noted. He emphasized that these measures "violate all principles of free trade."
"We denounce before the world this brutal act of aggression against Cuba and its people, who for more than 65 years have been subjected to the longest and cruelest economic blockade ever imposed against an entire nation, and who are now being threatened with being subjected to extreme living conditions," Parrilla concluded.
On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order allowing for duties on foreign countries that provide any oil to Cuba. The document is available on the White House website.
