Russian says warning systems failed during US strikes on Caracas

MOSCOW, January 3. /TASS/. The United States struck Venezuela, including from helicopters, while the warning systems did not work, Ivan Pavlov, a Russian working in Caracas, told TASS.

"Rocket attacks began at night, including from helicopters. A missile attack was also launched on the grave of Hugo Chavez in Caracas," he said.

According to him, the warning systems did not work during the attack.

"The sirens weren't howling, the air defense seemed to be working in places, but that's not for sure. There is still silence on television," the Russian said.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto said that the United States had attacked civilian and military facilities in Caracas. He called Washington's actions military aggression. A state of emergency was declared in Venezuela. US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States has carried out large-scale strikes against Venezuela. According to him, President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured and flown out of the country.
