WASHINGTON, December 25. /TASS/. The administration of US President Donald Trump has achieved a record decline in the number of murders in a single calendar year, US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel reported.

"US murders are on pace for the largest one-year drop on record - and it's no accident. US President Donald Trump’s policy of letting good cops be cops works," he wrote on his X page.

Meanwhile, Axios reported that, according to statistics from 570 law enforcement agencies, the number of murders in the US is expected to decline by 19.8% this year compared to last. The number of mass murders in the country has also fallen to its lowest level since 2006. In addition, the number of car thefts fell by 23.2%, robberies by 18.3%, and thefts by 14.8% during the same year.

On August 11, Trump announced the deployment of National Guard troops to Washington to combat crime. The president also transferred the city's police force to federal government control and suggested that the armed forces could be called in to ensure security in Washington if necessary. Similar measures were taken in many other major US cities.
